Review: Shangri-La Hotel Paris

shangri-la-paris-hotel-review-026

My husband and me recently took a three-day shopping trip to Paris and decided to treat ourselves to a special accomodation.

The Shangri-La Hotel is a 5-star belle-époque palace with the absolute best views of the Eiffel Tower and it was once the home of Napoleon’s grand-nephew, Prince Roland Bonaparte, who lived here until his death in 1924. For the hotel opening in 2010 every small detail of Prince Bonaparte’s home has been meticulously restored which makes you feel like visiting royalty. I love hotels that are authentic in their design, and like the Mercer Hotel in Barcelona, which I visited last May, the Shangri-La is a perfect example of a hotel that honors its building’s history.

Last week I spent some wonderful days in Paris, my favorite city in the world. We opted for the famous and luxurious Shangri-La Hotel (the only place where you can have breakfast on your terrace and enjoy the beauty of the Eiffel tower), ate some of the most delicious foods and I even scored the bag of my dreams at Hermès. For those of you that don´t follow me on Instagram, here´s a little summary of what I have been up to:

A Day In Vienna + Steffl Department Store

222 days ago dash Lifestyle, Travel

A few weeks ago I enjoyed a short stay in one of the most beautiful cities of Europe: Vienna. The Austrian capital has a population of approximately 1.7 million people and is the second largest German speaking city in Europe. Vienna is also the only city that was named six times in a row for most livable city worldwide - quite an honor, don´t you think? But to be honest, this result does not surprise me at all. With such a fantastic architecture (that is much more beautiful than the Parisian one), clean streets, a thought-through infrastructure and a variety of parks you just have to fall in love.

Since you have already seen my looks from Luisaviaroma´s Firenze4Ever event (which you can buy here among some of my other favorite items from the online store), I thought it would be nice to show you some pictures from the wonderful weekend we spent in Tuscany. And I can only repeat myself and say that we had a fabulous time in Firenze, all thanks to the lovely Luisaviaroma-team.

My Visit To Maison Guerlain Paris

267 days ago dash Beauty, Travel

Paris, Champs Elysées 68. The Maison Guerlain is a grand architectural masterpiece located on one of the worlds most famous avenues. For more than 100 years, this has been the home to Guerlain and the boutique is still attracting an enormous amount of visitors every year. In 2013, the house has been renovated by star architect Peter Marino, who kept the many magnificent historic elements and combined them with the works of 20 contemporary artists to decorate the interior in a modern, timeless way. The result is a stunning combination of art, design and history.

A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to participate in a tour of the renovated Maison Guerlain and today I want to share my impressions with you.

Paris Summary + Glow Gallery Pictures

Whenever I am in Paris, I am overwhelmed by the stunning architecture and the many beautiful things you can discover. Since I take hundreds of pictures a day and almost always have my mobile in my hands (which is why I need to recharge twice with my Mipow), it must be quite obvious that I am a dreamy tourist who is very much in love with Paris.

Well, here are some of the photos I took during my most recent trip, and I also added two pictures that were shot during the Dior Addict Event :-) I hope you enjoy them!

A Night With Dior

As you all may remember, I had the honor to attend an event from Dior in Paris last week. The french fashion and beauty house invited to celebrate the launch of their new star products Dior Addict Fluid Stick and Dior Le Vernis nail polish. Together with some of the most famous bloggers (The Blonde Salad, Gala Gonzalez, Stylescrapbook) I had the chance to not only see the new product line for myself, but also to test each and every shade.

Paris: Sale Shopping Trip

If you follow me on Instagram or Facebook, you might have noticed that I made a short trip to one of favorite cities: Paris. I just had to be there for the first day of winter sales, and so my dear friend Elli and I hopped on board of the Thalys and spent two days in the city of love, Chanel and Macarons.
With all the shopping tourists, the city was even more crowded than usual; but nevertheless, we still had a great time and managed to score some wonderful clothes and accessories. So before I show you my sale finds (I didn´t have the time yet to take proper pictures), I thought I´d give you a quick overview of the snapshots I took during these 36 hours.

Travel Diary - Chicago, Illinois Part 1: Stay Warm!

Today I´d like to start with a first overview of my trip to Chicago, Illinois. You might be wondering why I chose the title “Stay Warm!”, but let me tell you: This is the typical farewell when you leave any kind of location. The “windy city” as Chicago is called actually really lives up to its name and welcomed me with very low temperatures (-4° F) and a strong breeze. Nevertheless, it is is a stunning city that I immediately fell in love with, and I am definitely coming back next year.

After three intense and eventful days in Chicago and surroundings, I am back home! Even though my trip was rather short, I had a great time exploring beautiful Chicago, trying out some new restaurants (I will tell you all about my stay in Illinois in another post real soon) and (of course) do some shopping - because what´s a city trip without shopping?
Since many stores in the USA had already started with markdowns, I was able to score some really nice bargains. Plus, I also visited the Rosemont designer outlet close to the O´Hare airport which had a lot of great stuff for crazy prices. So, here´s my little shopping haul:

cityDear readers,

while you are reading this post, I am en route to the USA, or more precisely: Chicago! I have been invited to explore the city, visit a new shopping mall and ride with Mickey Mouse on a Disney wagon at the Christmas parade (so looking forward to this!).

And now my question: Can any of you recommend any good shops, restaurants and bars? Are there any special sights that I should visit?
I am looking forward to reading your replies!

New York Guide – A Day at The Standard Hotel

Our favorite areas in New York are SoHo and the Village with it’s neighbouring Meatpacking District. In this post I want to share a great hotel in New Yorks most fashion-conscious neighbourhood: The Standard. Hovering above the beautiful High Line Park it is offering breathtaking panoramic views of the city and Hudson River. What I love about boutique hotels and where The Standard really shines are those many little twists it adds to everything (Like the floor of it’s restaurant, which consists of 50,000 glazed pennies). So what does a typical day at The Standard look like?

A Day at the Met

Whenever I am on holidays, I always try upgrade my education and visit one or two of the local museums. Even though my husband and I have spent a few months in New York within the past years, we somehow never got to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art (“Met”). I honestly don´t know why we never even considered going there before - maybe we always thought that the Moma, Guggenheim or Museum of National History were more “visitworthy” than the Met? However, can you believe that after having visited the Met this time, I would call it my absolute favorite museum?

New York Guide - My Favorite Restaurants

Since many of you asked me about my favorite restaurants in New York, I thought I´d do a quick post about my go-to-places in Manhattan.
I am never one to experiment much with restaurants and food. It is very important to me to know that if I am going to spend (a lot of) money in a restaurant, I will receive a delicious, tasty and healthy meal. So before we do any kind of trip, we always try to look for restaurants with good references and recommendations from blogs/magazines. By doing so, I have found some of the nicest and best places in this world and have never been disappointed by any of our choices.
Anyway, here´s my list with great restaurants in New York:
