One of my absolute favorite spots and a must-see in New York is Dylan´s Candy Bar. If you’re looking for something sweet there is nowhere better than East 60th Street/corner of 3rd Avenue, right behind Bloomingdale’s. The owner, Dylan Lauren, is the daughter of legendary fashion designer, Ralph Lauren. Thus, she knows a thing or two about art and fashion and also carries some candy related clothing and accessories items. You could say that this place is basically an adults candy dream land on three floors (even though kids love it there, too!). Whatever sweets you want, they have it, and you can choose from over 3.000 different products!

Each time I visit the store I am literally overwhelmed and start to wonder around like I´m in trance … There are always so many new sweets to discover:

Since we got married in New York the city is very special to us and we try to be there at least once a year. I wasn´t able to go through the 1500 pictures we made, but I just wanted to give you a small sneak peek to what you can expect on my blog the next days:-)

Paris Food Diary

My list of favorite places in Paris:

1. L´Éclair de Genie

The name says it all: This wonderful pâtisserie specialises on éclairs only, and each piece is a little piece of art. Prices start at 5,- EUR and may be a little high, but every éclair is worth its money.

2. Grazie

A pizza parlour/bar in trendy district Le Marais. It’s design highly reselmbles those stylish bars in New York´s Meatpacking District, and I had some of the best pizzas of my life at this place. If you love italian pizza, salads and good drinks, this is the place for you. Prices are around 16,- EUR, and I highly recommend you try the drinks a the bar.

3. Breizh Café

If you love healthy food with a certain twist you should definitely try this place. Breizh Café is a new restaurant that offers a huge range of whole grain crêpes with every possible flavour and ingredient. Being a big salmon and ham fan, I tried two different crêpes and I was more than delighted. Starting at € 7,-, prices are very reasonable considering you´re eating in Paris. But remember, this place is packed, and if you arrive after 12 pm you may have to wait for over two hours!

4. Le Castiglione

Ever wanted to live the lifestyle of the rich and famous? If so, you have to check out this chic restaurant on Rue Saint-Honoré. Located on one of the world´s most expensive shopping miles, this place offers tasty food and is one of the go-to-spots during fashion week. It might one the pricier places in Paris, but the food is more than the delicious and if you get a spot on the first floor near a window, you can feel a bit like a celebrity yourself.

Paris Shopping Tipp: Les 3 Marches de Catherine B.

1 year, 150 days ago dash Deal Spotting, Travel

Many of you remember that I travelled to Paris about two weeks ago. One of the highlights of my trip was a visit of the wonderful vintage shop “Les 3 Marches de Catherine B.”, a lovely boutique located in the heart of St. Germain.

Looking through the shop´s windows and seeing the sheer endless luxury, I knew that this visit would feel like being in a wonderland. When I entered the shop, I immediately had to gasp for a moment - event though I own quite a few luxury items myself, I have never been closer to so many things I only knew from high fashion magazines and celebrity pictures. And while Catherine´s two shops may not be very big, they are filled with some of the most beautfiul things I have ever seen: from pink, gold and blue Chanel flaps, an immense collection of vintage jewlery and clothing to the most special Hermès croc bags (you could find them in every single colour!!!) and accessoires on earth, there was everything a girl could wish for.

Catherine B., the owner, is an elegant and charming woman, who openend her store in 1994, but unofficially started to buy and sell bags many years before. Contrary to most vintage fashion stores, Les 3 Marches de Catherine B. is not a consignment-store that offers services for those who want to sell their bags. No, Catherine, who calls herself a collector and only carries pieces from french fashion houses Chanel and Hermès, chooses wisely unique wardrobe pieces, bags and accessoires. If she is offered something that she really likes and that could be a good addition to her store´s inventory, she buys it. “I love every single piece in here”, Catherine explains to me, and “if I am not 100% convinced, I won´t buy it”. Well, with an exquisite taste and good eye like Catherine´s, it is no surprise that her private collections have been the theme for many exhibitions and magazine spreads in the past. In fact, I may go so far as to say that Catherine might own one of the biggest private Chanel and Hermès collections worldwide.

When asked why she specialized on selling Chanel and Hermès pieces only, Catherine answered that these two brands are the “Yin and Yang of the fashion world”, and that she started collecting precious pieces many years ago. In fact, she is the proud owner of the very first Birking Bag ever made - yes, the bag that belonged to the infamous Mrs. Jane Birkin herself. Catherine was able to buy the bag in 2000 when it was up for auction, and being a true collector´s piece, it found its way and destiny into Catherine´s private collection and is not for sale.

Les 3 Marches de Catherine B. is not a usual vintage fashion store, it is more of an insight into the life of a woman that dedicated herself to one of her biggest loves: the world of Chanel and Hermès. Being one of the very few “true” ladies that I have met so far, she is the epitome of elegance and grace, two characteristics that are very rare to find these days. Maybe Catherine is the modern version of what I always pictured Coco Chanel to be - a bit mysterios, very glamorous and most of all fabulously dressed. And even though I didn´t buy anything this time, I know that I will return to “Les 3 Marches de Catherine B.” - there are too many precious things still waiting for me.

Maison Ladurée Paris

1 year, 159 days ago dash Food, Travel

One of my favorite destinations in Paris are the beautiful Cafés from french house Ladurée. Whenever I visit the city, my first stop is always one of the wonderful patisseries - there is just something about these colorful little macarons that immediately lifts my mood and fills my heart with joy.

Ladurée is known for its decadent sweets, particularly the double-decker macaron (reportedly they sell 15,000 of them every day). It is the most famous and popular macaron establishment in France, if not the world. Ernest Louis Laduree opened his first bakery in 1862 for the delight of his wife who dreamed for a place outside the home for women to gather for afternoon tea. With this entrepreneurial vision in mind, Laduree became France’s first tea parlour, catering mostly to the city’s bourgeois class. Laduree now has chains set in different European countries, Tokyo, Dubai and New York. I highly recommend you go there and taste these wonderful little creations yourself!

My favorite flavors “Rose” and “Fleur D´Oranger”:

We had tea and some lovely pastries:

When we had dinner at the restaurant on Champs Elysées, we opted for these mini burgers and a delicious club sandwich:

I bought this beautful candle as a souvenir :-)

Zurück aus London: Damien Hirst & ein paar Erinnerungen

2 years, 9 days ago dash Lifestyle, Travel

We´ve had a great time in London and have been back now since Sunday. Due to the high exchange rate for the British Pound most things were way more expensive than in Germany and I wasn´t able to do lot of shopping, but we still managed to make the best of our short trip. Since we were used to the bad and rainy weather at home, we were delighted by the warm and sunny days we had in London. You could feel the excitement for the Olympic games and the whole city was in a great spirit for the upcoming tournaments.

The “Antigona” tote from Givenchy is currently my favourite bag. Even though the orange colour is extremly bright, the bag matches every single item in my wardrobe and I absolutely love the pop of colour. I can wear it both day- and nighttime for every occasion from shopping trips to fancy dinners (bracelet is by CC Skye, you can buy it here).

Here are a couple of shots from the “Damien Hirst Retrospective” at the Tate Modern in London. Unfortunately I wasn´t allowed to take pictures but I managed to get some spy pics from the infamous shark and the beautiful sparkling “diamond vitrines”.

Dinner & Drinks in London: Mein Outfit für heute Abend

2 years, 14 days ago dash Lifestyle, Travel

Like I mentioned the other day, I want to make my blog a little bit more personal. That´s why I am going to introduce the new category “Travel” today.

Tonight we are going to dine at Mr. Chow, one of my favourite restaurants. The first time I went to Mr. Chow was in New York about two years ago and I immediately fell in love with the delicious food and nice decor. You could describe the food as “asian-fusion-cuisine”, a mixture of traditional chinese dishes and modern elements, that led to creations like the infamous “Green Tiger Shrimps” or the “Beijing Chicken”. Afterwards we want to have a drink at AQUA, a new rooftop bar in central london that not only serves great drinks, but also offers a beautiful view of the whole city.

This is my outfit for tonight:

Simple black shift dress, small Chanel Classic Handbag, beloved Jimmy Choo Sandals, CC Skye Bracelet (loving this version from ASOS) ist auch schön!) und Allen Schwartz Amreif
