Travel Diary - Chicago, Illinois (Part 2): Happy Shopping!

After a first glimpse of my wonderful trip to Chicago, here comes the second part of my journey in the windy city. And this time I´d like to go a little bit deeper into one of my favorite subjects : Shopping!

With being a fashionblogger and all, browsing through stores, discovering new trends and doing a little shopping is one of my favorite activites while on vacation. Since time is always of the essence, I usually look for interesting stores and boutiques in advance and mark them on a special “shopping map”. This way, I can manage the precious time while on vacation the best way and not spend too much of my energy on running around searching for stores. And for precisely this reason, Chicago has grown on me so much: If you book a hotel on or near the famous Magnificent Mile, all the major department stores (such as Saks, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Macy´s and Bloomingdales) are within a few minutes’ walk. The same can be said for the many boutiques of big designer brands like Chanel, Hermes, Prada, Burberry and Co. - if you want to spend some serious money, this is the place for you.

If you ever happen to spend a weekend in Chicago, I highly recommed you to visit the Sunday Brunch at the Trump Hotel. The selection of delicacies is extremly huge, and food lovers definitely get their money’s worth. I spent nearly three hours there trying to taste each one of the various dishes and desserts; plus, the view of the skyline is gorgeous and a must-see in my opinion.

On the third and last day of my stay, I spent a few hours at the Rosemont Designer Outlet. This large shopping mall is located near the airport and a a delightful place to spend some free time before departing Chicago. When I first arrived at the outlet, I was a bit sad to not have been there at the beginning of my trip. The range of clothing, shoes, handbags and designers is simply breathtaking, and you can find the latest fashion from Prada, Gucci, Michael Kors, Burberry, Hervé Léger, Brunello Cuccinelli, All Saints and many other designers - all up to 70% (!!!) off. Well, if I hadn´t shopped so much before, these prices would have been my undoing. Nevertheless, I found a beautiful top at All Saints (from $ 400 marked down to just $ 90) and a warm and cozy cashmere sweater (originally $ 300 , I got it for $ 100). Since a visit to the outlet is definitely worth it, I recommend you go there upon arrival - otherwise you may end up like me and spending your whole budget in the city….

Ich hätte nie gedacht, dass Chicago sich so gut als Shoppingparadies eignet. Besonders das Outlet wäre einen Besuch wert ! Und die Speisen sehen fantastisch aus-sehr schöne Bilder…
