New York Guide - My Favorite Restaurants

Since many of you asked me about my favorite restaurants in New York, I thought I´d do a quick post about my go-to-places in Manhattan.
I am never one to experiment much with restaurants and food. It is very important to me to know that if I am going to spend (a lot of) money in a restaurant, I will receive delicious, tasty and healthy food. So before we do any kind of trip, we always try to look for restaurants with good references and recommendations from blogs/magazines. By doing so, I have found some of the nicest and best restauranst in this world and have never been disappointed by any of our choices.
Anyway, here´s my list with great restaurants in New York:

Yakitori Toto

Location: Near Central Park / Columbus Circle

My absolute favorite restaurant in the whole wide world! Whenever I am in New York, I have to visit this place at least twice - the food is healthy, fresh and soooo delicious! I could literally eat there every day, as everything is being prepared freshly in front of you in the open kitchen and only the best ingredients are being used. If you ever visit this place, you have to try the frozen banana with Taipioca pearls, the Matcha ice cream and the ginger salad :-)

Momofuko

Location: East Village

Momofuku is the name of celebrity chef David Chang´s restaurant chain (some of you might know him from appearances in “Treme”). All restaurants offer a wide range of asian-inspired food, combined with elements of modern american cuisine. We always visit the “Noodle Bar” (a fast food restaurant) that has the most tasty little buns you could imagine (see picture below). If you´re looking for somthing more fancy (and expensive), I suggest you try “Ssäm”, a chic and nice spot to take out a date and have a nice evening.

Mr. Chow

Location: Tribeca

The first time I went to Mr. Chow was about three years ago and I immediately fell in love with the delicious food and nice decor. You could describe the food as “asian-fusion-cuisine”, a mixture of traditional chinese dishes and modern elements, that led to creations like the infamous “Green Tiger Shrimps” or the “Beijing Chicken”. Great if you´re looking for something fancy!

The Plaza Food Hall

Location: Central Park / 5th Avenue

Well, you could say that this location is a little treasure that not many people know about. Located on Fifth Avenue, right underneath the famous Plaza Hotel, food lovers are offered a wide range of almost anything you can imagine: Italian pizza, Sushi, Steaks, Burgers, Oysters and Lobster are being freshly prepared right in front of your eyes and taste extremly well.

Locanda Verde

Location: Greenwich Village

A great italian restaurant with a very nice menu. Located in Greenwich Village, with a beautiful interior and absolutely delicious food. And guess what? Robert DeNiro is the owner :-)

Forcella

Location: East Village & Williamsburg, Brooklyn

If you love Pizza, this is the place for you! Four time world pizza champion Giulio Adriani created a delicious fried pizza (“Pizza Fritta”) which tastes better than anything else I have ever experienced.
