Today I´d like to introduce two new books that I bought on my journey to New York. The first book is one that many of you might know: Cupcakes & Cashmere is the paper-made version of Emilie Schuman´s same-titled blog.

Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and each section is giving out concrete advice on how to dress, make-up, decorate or cook according to the season. There are many pictures that guide you through the author´s tips and help you visualize the results. But while the book may be a nice read with a lot of inspirations, I would not recommend buying it. Most of the content has been taken from Emilie´s blog, and therefore the book is more or less a summary of what I already knew. Nevertheless, the book makes for a good gift for those that are not very much into blog reading. Plus, there are some nice ideas put into words and pictures and the book could serve as a year-round guide.

The second piece of literature that I would like to show you is a book called “I love your style” by Amanda Brooks. I immediately fell in love with it after having only flipped through the first few pages. After a foreword of Diane von Furstenberg (who I love!), the book itself starts with many beautiful and high-quality pictures. One could say that it is a very visual book, but what sets it apart from other style guides is that it is also very personal. Every chapter starts with an experience of the author who has experimented with many styles and looks. I believe that this book is made for every woman, whether she is more into classic, bohemian, minimal, high fashion, street or eclectic chic. It gives out great advice and inspiration for your own style or if you wish to mix things up a bit. The book is absolutely worth the expense and I would recommend it for everybody who is interested in the history of fashion, style icons and concrete tips and tricks to spice up yor looks.
