It was just a matter of time, but now it is official: Chanel will increase the prices for its Handbags about 30% in Europe. The move is meant to streamline the pricing in Europe and China. Classics like the 11.12, 2.55 and Boy Bag will see the price increases on April 8, while the rest of Chanels product range will receive the new prices till the end of the year. But thats not the only bad news:

Limited Chanel Classic Bags

Based on my information Chanel will copy the strategy of Hermès and will soon offer a very limited supply of the classic hand bags 11.12, 2.55 and Boy Bag. As a customer you will then be added to a waiting list.

“We want to focus on customers who are seduced by the brand, who are seduced by our creativity, by our know-how and our finishing, and not just the price differential” says Bruno Pavlovsky, President of Fashion at Chanel. Another reason for the price increase could be a planned entry into e-commerce.

    Oh je, also 30 % Preiserhöhung ist schon echt heftig! Und auch die Verknappung finde ich unschön! Ich musste letztes Jahr schon ewig den verschiedenen Boutiquen nachtelefonieren und hatte dann einfach Glück, dass ich genau an dem Tag in Frankfurt war, als eine neue Lieferung mit Boy Modellen ankam. Jetzt bin ich froh, dass ich mir die Tasche schon letztes Jahr gekauft habe, weil nochmal 30 % mehr auf den ohnehin schon sehr hohen Preis? Nein danke!

    Hm, ich war nie ein Fan der Chanel Taschen, da sie mich immer an zu prall gefüllte Steppkissen aus alter Zeit erinnern und m.E. der Preis schon jetzt mehr als unverschämt ist (Designer hin oder her), aber mit der neuen Preissteigerung werden sie genau so größenwahnsinnig wie Hermès.
    Klar, wer die x Tausende mal eben so auf den Tresen legen kann, soll es machen, aber selbst ein Gutverdiener dürfte mit den beiden Firmen seine Schwierigkeiten haben.
    Ich bin da raus. Es gibt genügend Designer, die sich in einem angenehmen Preisniveau befinden und ansonsten schaue ich mich nach schönen Ledertaschen ohne bekannten Namen um - da wird man auch fündig :)

      Sehe ich genauso, ich finde die Taschen tendenziell etwas tantig und altmodisch und der Preis ist m.M. nach völlig überzogen. Lieber eine gut gearbeitete Ledertasche mit kleinem Namen als diesen überzogenen Hype mitmachen.
